Innovative Leadership

“As a person whose life was once defined by incarceration, trauma, addiction and hopelessness, I am grateful and humble to be a member of the Board of Directors of 2nd Street. It is with great pride that I sit amongst members who are fueled by the understanding that empowerment creates change.”  Gina Arnold, Member of Original Board of Directors

Lindsay Cornwell

Executive Director

Growing up in Lanesborough, MA, I emerged from a family rooted in law enforcement, fostering a commitment to community service and helping others. My education culminated at Mount Greylock Regional High School, shaping my values and sense of responsibility. Engaging with both church and community has been integral to my upbringing. I moved on to Springfield College where I completed my bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation and disabilities studies with a minor in psychology.

I started my career in corrections in 2014, after completing my master’s degree from Springfield College in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I first started working in re-entry and aftercare case management and then went on to the Western Massachusetts County Correctional Officers academy and graduated as a correctional counselor/correctional officer. I’ve primarily worked with women; advocating, supporting, encouraging, and helping them connect to appropriate resources and services in Berkshire County. My role has been to help incarcerated women successfully re-enter into the community, promoting health and public safety.

My goal has and always will be to promote change within our community and support individuals who are struggling to navigate services surrounding mental health and substance abuse. I’m a strong advocate for women services with hopes to increase female specific services within our community. My goal and mission is to help these individuals rise above their adversities, find purpose and meaning, and use their stories of strength and hope to change the lives of others. We all deserve a second chance!

Lindsay is presently enrolled in the Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management program at Northeastern University.
