City of Pittsfield Grant
On April 14, 2022, 2nd Street was awarded a grant in the amount of $700,000 by the City of Pittsfield from its American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, allocated over a three-year period commencing July 1, 2022, to support operating expenses.
Commonwealth of Massachusetts Grants
In December of 2021, Berkshire Community College, as a collaborating partner and fiscal agent, received a grant of $240,300 through the Community Empowerment and Reinvestment Grant Program from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The grant allowed 2nd Street to furnish its space, develop and expand community relationships, create its brand, secure a plan for fiscal management, governance and sustainability of its programs, and start welcoming clients.
In December of 2022, 2nd Street received a direct grant of $75,000 through the FY2023 Community Empowerment and Reinvestment Program from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The grant supported the cost of a Sustainability Planning study to develop a plan to provide revenue when ARPA funding ends on June 30, 2025, a Strategic Planning process, and the development of outreach material for our target population and the general public. The remaining funding provided a portion of operating expenses during the six-month period of the grant.
In December of 2023, 2nd Street received a third CERP grant in the amount of $300,000. The grant money will support the cost of current staff salaries and benefits and cover the cost of two additional Community Resource Navigators for the first six months of 2024. Community Resource Navigators connect with formerly incarcerated individuals to assess their needs and to provide access to a wide range of services and referrals, including medical and mental health services, substance use treatment, financial resources, transportation, housing, job training and employment, legal services and more. Navigators work with each client to develop an individualized reentry plan.
